At this meeting the chairman's report will be tabled. A financial report and the budget for 2010 will be presented by the treasurer. The new management committee for 2010 will also be elected.

Dr Celestine Pretorius is well known for her passion for cultural history. She uses pictures, photo's sketches an documents to show how these items can assist the amateur genealogist in presenting his research in an informative and entertaining manner.

Mr Emilio Coccia is an expert in the history of Italians setling in South Africa with specific reference to the POW's of the Second World War

Prof Barend Venter will discuss the progress in the methodolgy and ethics of genealogical research since the early days of family research in South Africa.

A panel consisting of researcher Alex Fuchs, editing specialist Hendrik Louw and printer Kallie Steyn discuss the how and what of publishing one's research.

A discussion on Tanap and what resources are available for the genealogist in this vast data base of the Dutch East India Company (VOC) the world's first multinational.

We intend visiting the new National Library in Pretoria.

The well known author Dot Serfontien will be our guest speaker at the annual gala event of the Northern Transvaal Branch in September

This very popular event on the calender of the Branch's activities has now become an annual event. A panel of experts discuss members question's on research, methodolgy, the tracing of sources and lessons learnt during research. This has become an almost invaluable source of information for the newcomer and experienced researcher alike.

This event is now also part and parcel of the culture of the Northern Transvaal Branch's annual calender. We provide a few of our members the opportunity to relate their experiences while doing their research - including unexpected findings and "twists to the tail."  The highlight of this meeting is our annual competition. This year our members will compete in three categories. The first category is the ever popular scrap book competition.
